In this workshop we will be creating a new kind of on-the-body textile applications incorporating multi-sensorial aspects and functionalities that give the wearer an added value during the intended end use. Especially considering a dynamic cycle of movements, context of use and actions to perform. Via rapid proto-typing and embodied design ideation methods we aim to build new design and therefore new kind of ways to approach the seamless and circular technology of Santoni.

Starting from a range of non-textile materials, participants will explore, research and build forms that can be applied to the body, considering here a 2D to 3D and to 5D approach supporting dynamic wear and use (movement study). During a second part of the workshop the body explorations will be translated into actual knitted samples using the innovative seamless technology of Santoni.

At the end of the workshop we expect participants to learn how to form or shape flexible textiles on and around the body taking the end user into account. More specifically, how sensorial and functional aspects can be built into 5D textile materials.
